Washing the Siding

Before you even go out to get your pressure washer so that you can wash your vinyl siding, it's important to note that some manufacturers don't recommend using pressure washers on vinyl siding. However, if you keep the washer on low to medium pressure, and keep the nozzle perpendicular to the wall, with the wand at about your eye line, then you should be able to safely use a pressure washer on all your vinyl siding. 

When it comes to using a pressure washer to clean your siding, it is pretty easy to do. Most of the pressure washers come with an attachment that will let you add soap into the sprayer. That will let you put something like dishwashing liquid or a specific cleaner in it so you can get all the dirt off. The pressure of the water alone can start to loosen some of the dirt, but using the soap boosts the action of the pressurized water to clean everything off. 

One way you can do it is to rinse all your siding before you add in the soap. The water will get some of the big dirt and debris off. Then you can add the soap into the attachment so that you can get a nice soapy spray. When you feel like everything has been soaped up enough, then you can go back and rinse everything off well. You don't want to leave any soap residue on your siding because the residue can actually attract dirt and make your siding look dirty and grimy. 

Cleaning your siding can make your house look a lot better. You can do it as just a part of your normal spring or fall cleaning, or you can do it before you put your house up for sale.
